Large factory, rumbustious workshops, simple-wear workers, foreigners of different skin colours, slogans of the "cultural revolution", many special painting exhibitions, all kinds of sculptures and bars... that's the image of 798 art district. The original basis for 798 art district was the State Beijing 3rd Wireless Equipment Factory. It covers an area of 120,000 sq. meters. The factory was built in 1950' with Russia's help. It's designed by a German technician. The workshops were planned in good order with concise style. 798 factory became artists' paradise since the first group of artists set up their studios here in 2001. Nowadays, many artists from other countries, such as France, Germany, Holland, America, Japan etc., joined the group. They show their new works here. They promote the international cultural communication between China and other countries, as well as enrich Beijing's city culture. Including galleries, art center......
